Saturday, September 23, 2023 –Ethics and Anticorruption Commission EACC officers have arrested the Deputy OCS for Ikino Police Station in Kiambu County Police Inspector George Chacha.

Also arrested was his accomplice Police Constanble Elizabeth Mwongeli Muthoka following their involvement in corruption deals within their area of work.

Making the confirmation today Saturday September 23, EACC reported that the duo were found soliciting briobes from members of the public notably a sh 50,000 bribe a complainant.

“The two demanded sh 50,000 from the complainant as a “motivation fee” for the Deputy OCS to release the complainant’s motor vehicle which he had adamantly refused to release despite a valid court order,” partly read EACC statement as seen by this desk.

The said court order had been presented to him(OCS) by the complainant who then took the report to the EACC offices for assistance.

And on Monday this week, EACC moved to apprehend the two State officers who had just received the bribe from the complainant.

“The two were apprehended on Monday after receiving the demanded amount from the complainant at Ikino Police Station.

“They were processed at EACC Integrity Centre Police Station and later at Kilimani Police Station pending further enforcement actions,” also read the confirmation statement by EACC.

This was happening after EACC also arrested one John Obura Dimo, an Auctioneer with Keysyan Auctioneers, an Agency engaged by the Kenya Revenue Authority KRA.

EACC arrests another suspect

In a statement released today Saturday, the official demanded a bribe of sh 2 million from a private company in order to assist in “waiving” sh 19.5 million in tax arrears owed to KRA.

“The suspect has been on the run since December 2022 when the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP concurred with recommendations of EACC to prosecute him.

“He was out on police bail pending investigations defied EACC summons to appear for plea-taking and instead disappeared in December 2022. Detectives smoked him out from a garage in Utawala on Thursday and booked him at Kilimani Police Station pending arraignment, yesterday, Friday, morning,” EACC shared the statement in part.

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission EACC has in recent months, scaled up arrested against corruption-related incidences around the country.

Dozen of State officials have been on the receiving end since the new Chairman Bishop David Oginde was appointed in office.

While thanking the president for the appointment, he promised to help reduce acts of corruption within government facilities in the country.

Oginde replaced Bishop Eliud Wabukala who served in Uhuru Kenyatta era.
