On Thursday August 26, Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission EACC started their investigations after word went round that the don had forged most of his post-secondary papers including university Degrees he is holding.

Prof Erastus Nyaga Njoka is said to have a Doctorate of Philosophy Ph.D. in Agriculture(Special zootechny, animal products production technology) from Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University in Russia which he acquired in 1993.

Media also reported that he holds a Masters of Science in Animal Husbandry Degree acquired in 1990 from the same school. Further, Njoka claims to have pursued a post graduate Diploma in research in the same institution.

He argues that his post-secondary studies were purely sponsored by the government of Kenya through a scholarship programme in the 80s.

But fresh details from the Kenya National Examination Council KNEC proved his claims otherwise. That Prof Njoka was not among the qualifiers for the programme during that period. KNEC further supports that he failed with Es in his A-Levels. For instance, he scored Es in Biology and Geography, an O(fail) in Chemistry and only managed a grade 8 in the general paper. This is according to records at KNEC.

Investigating agencies in Isiolo where he is being grilled also established that most of his academic papers were not certified and he was also unable to show any original invitation letter from the Russian based college.

“The detectives are looking at the possibility of the copy he presented being a fake as they hold a complainant who had approached them has the original and what Njoka has is what he stole from him, and went to study with,” said a source.

Currently, EACC is establishing whether the accused went for studies at Patrice Lumumba College in Russia as he purports in his academic papers.

And as the anti-graft agency continues to comb through his skewed portfolio, Njoka has since been directed to produce any invitation letter from Russia as well as scholarship offer letters from the Ministry of Education.

Earlier, details indicated that the Commission for University Education CUE was the one which first cleared Njoka to undertake his teaching job in the country. He was mandated to teach Russia languages across many institutions in Kenya.
