Sunday, September 30, 2023 – Ethics and Anticorruption Commission EACC has moved with speed to investigate suspended Communication Authority of Kenya CA Director General Ezra Chiloba.
The commission seeks to unravel the alleged misappropriation of public funds in the CA headquarters, Nairobi.
“The Commission is investigating allegations of abuse of office and conflict of interest against Ezra Chiloba Simiyu, the suspended Director General, Communications Authority,” EACC said in its statement.
The anti-graft agency has also asked Acting Communications Authority Director General Cristopher Wambua to produce a number of documents so that to help the commission to conduct a comprehensive and an objective investigation.
Among other documents, EACC wants to look at the National Treasury Audit Report, the Mortgage Loan Policy and Loan Book and an authorised panel of values.
In addition, EACC will be looking into minutes of the Special Board Audit and Risk Assurance Committee meeting held on August 8, and specific details regarding all mortgage loan beneficiaries past and present.
Mr. Chiloba was suspended a week ago by the CA board and in his place taken by Christopher Wambua.
He was appointed to the CA by former president Uhuru Kenyatta during his second term.
Before joining CA, Chiloba had been forced to resign from The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC Anniversary Towers following his bitter fallout with Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
The Opposition had also accused him alongside Chebukati of bungling the 2013 election in favour of Uhuruto duo.
After leaving IEBC, he quietly went back to his Bungoma Village where he embarked on farming activities.
He would frequently be spotted aboard his tractors ploughing his farm with the help of a handful of workers.
