Thursday, March 28, 2024 –Embattled former Cabinet Secretary for Sports Rashid Echesa has been arrested over extortion connections.

Kenyawide.com learnt that the politician currently serving asChairman of Kenya Water Towers Agency, is currently held at Muthaiga Police Station.

His Lawyers led by Danstan Omari reported that their client was being held to help investigate his abduction claims.

“We have been allowed to see him. We understand they are investigating claims of extortion and abduction which we don’t know more about,” he said.

“There is no complainant in this case. He is the one who reported the matter in the first place and now he has been reported here,” he said.

Mr. Echesa is said to have been picked up from his house in Nairobi on Thursday March 28 and taken to Muthaiga police station where his lawyers followed him.

By the time of going to the press, efforts were being made to release him on cash bail.

On March 20, the ex-Cs failed to appear in court for the second time for directions in the sh 39 billion fire arms case.

Echesa’s then Advocate Kiraithe Wandugi told the court that the accused is sick and had been admitted to the hospital since last week.

He told Milimani Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina that on Tuesday, Echesa underwent a medical procedure and needs to recuperate before appearing in court.
