Tuesday, April 20, 2021 -A group of youthful politicians from Uasin Gishu County have responded to Governor Jackson Mandago’s remarks on new boundaries.
In his previous statement on the proposal by the Building Bridges Initiative BBI Draft Bill, Mandago explained that introduction of extra boundaries in the region was not necessary as of now. He stated that this can only me done through proper and wide consultations with area leaders.
“As leaders of this County, our input and that of the public is paramount before the planned divisions were implemented and we want Interior Ministry involve all Stakeholders before such plans are effected,” cautioned Mandago.
But a group of youthful politicians on Monday told the media that they couldn’t wait for a new Eldoret Town Constituency. They observed that the introduction of more representation areas will foster growth in Uasin Gishu County.
Comprising young politicians and traders from across the county, they said having Eldoret Town Constituency with its substantive Member of Parliament on board will improve the area which has been ignored for a longer time.
“Last time, walitugawa kama chips na imekua ngumu kwa watu wa town kuwa na usemi kwa mambo ya uongozi,” said one of the leaders Kimani Wanjohi during their media briefing in Eldoret on Monday April 19.
They also argued that previous delimitation exercises did not sufficiently address the aspect of representation in Uasin Gishu area.
Wanjohi was among those who vied in the Huruma Ward by-election but did not win.
