Saturday, October 14, 2023 –Fuel prices have again rose up in another round of energy regulation effect in the country.
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority EPRA has, today Saturday October 14, released new fuel prices that will take effect from October 15 to November 14.
Super Petrol has been increased by sh 5.72, from sh 211.64 to sh 217.36.
Diesel, in the latest reviewed prices, was increased to sh 205.47 from sh 200.99, while Kerosene was increased to sh 203.06 from the current sh 202.61 per litre.
“Taking into account the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products, the changes in the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices in Nairobi are as follows: Super Petrol, Diesel & Kerosene increases by Ksh5.72, Ksh4.48 & Ksh2.45 per litre respectively.
The move happening even as the country still grapples with the high cost of living coupled with high unemployment rate.
President William Ruto’s government struck out subsidies that had been introduced by previous government saying it was a channel of theft of public money into peoples’ pockets.
Shortly, Ruto would announce a fuel price stabilization fund which his government promised will ease pressure on the pockets of citizens.
Sadly, months down the line, fuel cost is yet to come down with zero signs that this could occur anytime soon.
