Tuesday, December 14, 2021 –Two top officials from Ford Kenya Party have decamped to a rival outfit launched on Tuesday December 14.
The long serving politicians in Wetangula’s Ford Kenya Party – MP Eseli Simiyu(Tongaren) and his Kanduyi counterpart Wafula Wamunyinyi – have today quit their positions citing frustrations and lack of purpose from their party boss.
The two stalwarts made their first appearance during the launch of Democratic Action DAP –K Party which was introduced today in their first National Delegates Conference held at Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi.
Looking at the party’s registration details, the new party officials have been listed as David Simiyu Muchele (National Chairman/Leader), Benard Masaja (Secretary-General), Beatrice Mbingi (Treasurer), and Martin Mulwale (Organizing Secretary).
Wamunyinyi and Eseli have in the recent past fought hard to take over leadership of the Ford- Kenya from Senator Moses Wetang’ula but courts have continuously stopped them.
“Members have agreed that we shall join a new vehicle, which we will be unveiling on December 14th when we shall be holding our National Delegates Conference (NDC),” Wamunyinyi addressed today.
He seized the opportunity to urge their loyal members to also move with them in the new party which he described as democratic with a bright future.
“We urge our loyal members who were determined to see a democratic Ford Kenya move with us. We are now part of the handshake,” he declared.
Same sentiments were shared by MP Eseli who added that Ford Kenya Party had failed to serve their purpose and in many instances blocked justice through the judicial system.
The launch of the Democratic Action Party saw former Premier Raila Odinga, Busia Governor Sospiter Ojaamong, Agriculture CS Peter Munya among other high profile individuals attend.
The party is now part of Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja Movement which Odinga will be using to take power in 2022.
