Saturday, October 14, 2023 –Security detail had to urgently whisk away opposition leader Raila Odinga away from chaotic meeting held in Turkana County.
Mr. Odinga, alongside Martha Karua, were in Turkana to attend the ongoing cultural event which was also attended by Jubilee Party MCAs and other party members.
In videos shared with us, tension rocked former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s, Friday October 13, event immediately he had started addressing.
Odinga had been invited to be the chief guest just a day after President William Ruto was there yesterday Thursday October 12.
This is after a section of Jubilee Party MCAs and leaders confronted Raila in the face for shortchanging them in the recent party appointments.
“I am UDA MCA, and I am not afraid to say that. I only fear God and electricity. Raila, we have given you respect as our leader. We have requested to come to you. We loved you, but you have not returned any favour,” Earlier, Lodwar Township MCA Ruth Kuya claimed.
Those who caused tension had been heard seeking to know why the opposition leader had not considered their own in the EALA posts.
Turkana Central MP Joseph Emathe immediately ordered the meeting to come to an end before Odinga had addressed.
“There will be no more addresses here, and I have said that as the Turkana Central MP,” he stated.
This tension building just a day after Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai, who was elected on the ODM party ticket, shifted loyalty to the ruling party side.
