Monday, August 30, 2021 -Mr. Khalif Salim Mwavuno is dead. Family has on Monday August 30 confirmed through their spokesman.
Mwavuno is a former Member of Parliament for Likoni who breathed his last on Monday morning; according to his family.
Making the announcement, Mombasa based businessman Suleiman Shahbal who is a gubernatorial aspirant for Mombasa County said the astute political leader was also a father figure to many coastal residents.
“I have, with deep sorrow and profound sadness received news of the death of Mzee Salim Mwavumo, the leader of Likoni Wamiji Council of Elders.
“Mzee Mwavumo, who also served as Likoni MP was like a father to me, I respected and valued his wise counsel,” Shahbal stated.
He served as the Likoni MP between years 1992 and 1997; and a period before that he had been serving in the Mombasa County Council in 1960s.
Background check shows that he was elected to Parliamnet through Ford Kenya Party ticket a party that is currently under Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula.
