Friday, February 18, 2022 –Rosemary Odinga, daughter to Raila Odinga, has shared her joy immediately after regaining her eyesight.

Describing her experience in darkness as horrific and chilling, Rosemary noted that she was finally happy to feel born again after years of agony and struggle.

“Before flying to India, I was pretty much living in the dark. I can say that I was existing and not living,” she remarked.

Speaking to an Indian channel on Friday February 17, the Raila’s daughter thanked her doctors and God for making this a possibility even after she had started to lose hope.

Her doctors told her that she lost the eyesight after suffering a stroke caused by an Aneurysm, a swollen blood vessel that used to leak often.

“I had a tumour in the brain then I had an aneurysm that was leaking which caused the stroke,” she disclosed.

Her breakthrough came when a family friend introduced them to a well recommended foreign eye specialist based in India.

“The medic asked if I could see anything. When he put the spectacles on my eye, I could see the letters,” an elated Rosemary narrated.

Commenting on this, Dr. Narayanan Namboothiri, described how he was filled with joy when she started responding to the treatment.

“Last week she came here and she started the treatment again. I met her and she greatly improved. The first thing she said to me is that I can see you,” stated an overjoyed Namboothiri.

Rosemary’s eye challenges were made worse in a Nairobi Hospital where she first underwent a surgery which never helped anything.

“My daughter got sick about three years ago. She had some haemorrhage in the brain and as a result, she was operated on in Nairobi. In the process of the operation, they interfered with her optic nerve,” Raila stated in his February 13 interview.

This forced them to seek a transfer to South Africa where she spent 3 months but she still didn’t improve before she was sent to Israel where not much was also done.
