Exclusive: CS George Magoha’s Wealth and Businesses

Sunday, October 17, 2021 –Respected Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha is among the wealth cabinet members known in Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.

He is worth millions of money invested in different ventures if his past interview proclamations are anything to go by.

The 1952 born is arguably a state officer currently holding a highly acclaimed curriculum vitae with qualifications in surgery. He is an academic Administrator and Professor of Surgery and consultant Urologist at the University of Nairobi’s College of Heath Sciences.

During his appointment as the Education Cabinet Secretary, Magoha said he was worth sh 250 million – the wealth documents presented to Parliamentary Committee on Appointment showed.

He gets his income from various high end investments including fixed cash deposits, Safaricom Masts and treasury bills.

According to Pesatoday.com, his success, though is largely anchored on his career. Magoha’s career progression began in 1988 when he was employed as a Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at the University of Nairobi and in 1989 he was promoted to a Senior Lecturer in the same department before in 1995 was promoted to Associate Professor, a position he served until 2000.

He is best known for his time as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi from 2005–2015 where he is credited to have transformed the institution both academically and in development where it became a leading institution of higher learning in Kenya and beyond.

He has been on record saying he doesn’t treasure being a cabinet secretary and he is just doing it because President Uhuru Kenyatta made the request to him.
