- Ruto Scripts Speech Notes for MPs – Gachagua - January 20, 2025
Monday, June 10, 2024 –Majority Leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah has told Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that President William Ruto fought hard himself to win the hearts of Mt. Kenya residents.
Speaking in a church service on Sunday, MP Ichung’wah said that it is wrong for one person to start claiming credit on the victory of Kenya Kwanza government.
He added that Gachagua was wrong on attempting to claim the credit that he is the one who made Ruto get the Mt. Kenya votes.
“That is an outright lie and I cannot associate myself with falsehood and lies because people of Mt Kenya voted for William Ruto because he came here to sell his agenda and plans,” he stated.
Ichung’wah, in a blow by blow account, indicated that the current president worked very hard to scout for votes from Kikuyus and one person cannot now come to claim responsible.
“As people of the Mountain, Ruto walked around this area asking for votes. So someone coming here to tell us he helped Ruto get votes from us is not right.
“Don’t tell us that people gave votes because of one person in this region,” further said the Majority leader.
According to the Kikuyu lawmaker, Kikuyus voted UDA Party candidate because they understood him and knew he is a better leader capable of leading them in a better way.
“Don’t tell us that we voted Ruto because of you,” Ichung’wah further charged.
He also fired at the DP by exposing his nefarious plans to mobilise some sections in Mt. Kenya to heckle and demean other leaders who do not agree with him.
“We will speak out everywhere. You can plan people to heckle me but we will tell you the truth not at night but in broad day light.
“Mobilise Kameme FM and all other vernacular stations but know that I will not be intimidated by anybody. I will continue to tell you the truth as it is,” he also told Gachagua.
A never-mincing-words Ichung’wah said, a country cannot be built on the ground of tribalism, threats and divisions.
He was speaking this days after DP Rigathi Gachagua challenged MPs from his region to try bringing their anti-one shilling-one vote campaigns in the Region.
