Friday, May 12, 2023 –Pastor Ezekiel Odero now claims his counterpart Pastor Paul Mackenzie conned him thousands through a dubious commercial transaction.
The New Life Prayer Center and Church founder, Ezekiel Odero, on Thursday, May 11, detailed how Mr. Mackenzie conned him a whopping sh 500,000.
This is after Ezekiel deposited the amount to acquire a local Tv Channel which Mackenzie had purportedly put on sale.
Ezekiel’s lawyer Cliff Ombeta, on Thursday, told the Malindi court how trickster Mackenzie lured Ezekiel into the Tv deal worth sh 3 million.
On depositing the first sh 500,000 into Mackenzie’s bank account, the latter started complicating the matter and eventually asked for more than sh 3 million.
“Pastor Ezekiel then went to Mackenzie and after discussions, he agreed to deposit sh 500,000. However, Mackenzie later complicated the situation and asked for more than Ksh3 million which was initially agreed upon,.
“Mackenzie then increased the cost of the transaction from sh 3 million to sh 5 million. In response, Pastor Ezekiel declined to continue with the transaction and told Mackenzie that he was no longer interested since he was going to get his own,” Ombeta further told the court.
A well-prepared Ombeta also put the State on the defense by asking the court to ensure that anything the prosecution had leveled against his client remains punishable if found to be not true.
This is after the Shanzu court was told by the prosecution that Pastor Ezekiel and Mackenzie were close businessmen who had previously conducted multimillion deals together.
That the two were accomplices who shared a lot in both business as well as questionable spiritual beliefs.
The two pastors also conducted their activities in the same geographical location.
