Thursday, February 29, 2024 –Lawyer Faith Mony dhiambo has been elected new president Law Society of Kenya LSK.
The legal scholar was announced winner in the countrywide elections that took place today Thursday February 29 where members were allowed to vote-in their favorite candidate.
First to congratulate the winner was former LSK President Nelson Havi who asked the successor to serve the country with distinction.
“Congratulations Madam President, Faith Odhiambo. Serve us with distinction. Just remember that in this office, one’s popularity starts waning on the day of the oath. Always do the right thing. If in doubt, say no,” he tweeted.
The Law Society of Kenya LSK elections started today morning in various parts of the county with the main focus being the selection of a new president to succeed Eric Theuri whose term has officially elapsed.
The LSK presidency, with a non-renewable two-year term, holds a critical role in steering the society’s direction.
Also elected is the society’s vice president and LSK male representative to the Judicial Service Commission JSC.
The exercise which started early Thursday morning ended at 5PM. It was conducted in all the law courts across the country.
The upcoming president will mark the 51st individual to assume the prestigious role since the society’s inception.
Theuri took over from Nelson Havi.
