Thursday, March 24, 2022 –Kakamega County gubernatorial aspirant in Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party Fernandes Barasa has laughed at the decision by Kenya Kwanza to field Senator Cleophas Malala to face him in the August 9 contest.
Addressing residents of Kakamega County today Wednesday March 23, the ODM Party aspirant said that the moment he was waiting for had arrived and that he would teach Mr. Malala a lifetime lesson in the forthcoming contest.
While announcing his withdrawal from the race, ex-Ikolomani Member of Parliament Boni Khalwale noted that he had not stepped down for anyone but that whatever decision he had made today(Wednesday) was well informed for the sake of his own county.
“I want to announce that you aren’t seen it yet. “Today. I am pleased to announce that I have stepped up so that I focus more on the common agenda that covers our people. I am presenting myself as the candidate for the position of the Senator of the County of Kakamega,” he added.
On his part, Senator Malala who will now fly the Kakamega County governor flag for Kenya Kwanza coalition thanked Khalwale for allowing him to vie for the seat saying he was optimistic to deliver.
“With a lot of humility, I wish to accept the nomination for me to run as the Governor of Kakamega County.
“I wish to thank my political father, former Senator Boni Khalwale, for ceding ground and he has not done so because I am a better leader but because of the sacrifice and the bigger picture Kenya Kwanza is looking at,” he stated.
