FIFA Takes Action on Kenya and Zimbabwe

Thursday, February 24, 2022 –Federation Internationale de Football Association FIFA has suspended Kenya from all international football activities from today Thursday February 24.

Delivering the bad news during the FIFA Council Press Conference held on Thursday February 24, FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed the suspension saying until Kenya effects the required standards by reinstating the elected members, the ban will remain effective indefinitely.

Football Kenya Federation FKF President Nick Mwendwa was relieved off his duties on November 11 last year after it was claimed that he had misused resources meant for running football activities in the country.

The World football governing body, FIFA, on Thursday, asked the Kenyan government to repeal the decision to disband FKF and install a caretaker committee or the country will remain in the cold for a longer period.

“Kenya is suspended from international engagements because of government interference with sports activities,” Gianni stated in his beriefing.

He said Kenya’s governments knows what it’s supposed to do to fully get back into football activities.

Two nations – Kenya and Zimbabwe – were affected by the twin suspension.
