Sunday, February 26, 2023Azimio la Umoja boss Raila Odinga has cautioned foreign powers against interfering with Kenya’s politics.

Responding to news about plans by President William Ruto to use United Nations and Europe to exert pressure on him until he drops plans of mass action, Odinga has said that he is not bothered by such tactics.

He added that picketing was part of the Kenyan Constitution and, therefore, it lacks logic for the government to challenge this through foreign powers.

Raila who was speaking this in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County added that anything to do with leadership in this country must be left to nationals only and not other countries with vested interests.

“I have heard them saying that Raila should not be allowed to travel in other countries for claims that I will bring chaos. I have no intentions,” he stated.

He clarified that the issues at hand have nothing to do with any foreign country either neighbors or not.

“We don’t have any issues with other countries. We are friends with neighbouring and international countries from the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Russia and African countries.

“If we have problems, it is our responsibility as Kenyans to transform and solve them. We would not outside interference from international countries,” Odinga noted further.

He cited Clause 37 of the Constitution which says that every person is allowed to correct their government any time as long as this is done with much civility

“If there were electoral injustices, it is our role to rectify it. This is through the Constitution of Kenya.

“So all foreign entities ought to respect Kenyans. Let them respect the rights of every Kenyan. We don’t want them to interfere with our internal affair,” he affirmed.

On Sunday February 26 morning, media was awash with reports that Ruto’s administration was working all round the clock to neutralize Odinga’s efforts to escalate his criticism against their government.

Ruto, through his henchmen, has reportedly hatched plan to cut-to-size Mr. Odinga in an effort to silence him through both diplomatic and constitutional means.
