Monday, December 4, 2023 –First lady Mama Rachel Ruto has urged every citizen to care and conserve the environment.
In her Sunday December 3 statement seen by Kenyawide.com, Mrs. Rachel, while quoting the Bible book of Genesis 2:15, said it is a good idea for citizens to take a reflection on the necessity of nature and God’s creatures.
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it” – Genesis 2:15 (NIV) On this beautiful Sunday, let’s reflect on the divine mandate to care for God’s creation.
“As stewards of the earth, the Bible reminds us to protect and nurture our environment. This message resonates strongly with the ongoing discussions,” she added.
Making her reference to the ongoing meeting where world leaders are deliberating on climate challenges, Mrs. Ruto, as a collective responsibility, said these steps will help conserve the environment including lives of people who live on earth.
“Our responsibility to the Earth is not just a duty, it’s an expression of gratitude for the precious gift we have been given. Let’s work together for a sustainable future where love for our planet is reflected in our actions,” further said Mrs. Ruto.
President Ruto is currently in Dubai United Arab Emirates for the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference.
In the conference, the head of State noted that the current climate financing ecosystem must be changed and restructured for a better future.
He added that this must be made to be more responsive and innovative so as to effectively address the challenges posed by high debt service.
