Football is Back on KBC Tv and Radio – CS Namwamba

Wednesday, October 25, 2023 – Cabinet Secretary CS Ababu Namwamba paid a visit to veteran Kenyan broadcasting Corporation KBC football commentator Leonard Mambo Mbotela at his Nairobi home where the CS announced the return of local football on both Tv and radio.

Namwamba’s aim was to check on Mbotela’s health, as he also presented him with his Hongera Award. CS Ababu also made a sh 1 million support offer to the legend to help in his Medicare in recognition for his immense contribution to the nation.

“Legends are forever. What a special blessing to visit with and drink from the fountain of wisdom of this incredible national hero of all time, the ever-green, irrepressible colossus Leonard Mambo Mbotela, he of the peerless “Je, huu ni ungwana” fame,” he remarked.

The Sports CS indicated that any support for Mbotela is a special salute to him and all Kenyan broadcasting greats who have left such an indelible mark on the rich tapestry of our nation.

“Live long Shujaa! We have walked down memory lane to the dizzying times when football radio broadcasts were magical, when Kenyans thronged stadia to cheer their favorite teams, turning every match into a stirring carnival atmosphere,” Namwamba added in his statement to the legend.

The Sports CS announced both his commitment and determination to take Kenyan football and the rest of the local sports to greater heights.

“Am happy to announce that the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) is returning to KBC Tv and radio on free to air live broadcasts,” announced Namwamba.
