Monday, September 30, 2024 –Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was today arrested by police from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCI.
His lawyers led by Njiru Ndegwa made this confirmation today afternoon adding that this arrest took place when his client was attending to his daily businesses.
At the moment, Kenyawide.com can confirm that the suspect is currently held at the DCI headquarters Nairobi.
”My client has been arrested by officers from the DCI and we are currently at the DCI headquarters here in Nairobi,’’ Ndegwa announced to a local outlet.
Ndegwa added that the reason for the arrest is because he(Waititu) is accused of making hate speech in Kikuyu his language.
‘’They have informed us that they arrested him because of an utterance of hate speech that they alleged that he made in his native Kikuyu language,’’ Lawyer Ndegwa added.
The lawyer, therefore, advised his client to remain peaceful and quiet because of a hidden plan to lock him for long hours.
But Ndegwa refuted hate speech allegations saying the arrest is political and it is motivated by those in power hell-bent on interfering with the freedom of speech as enshrined in the Constitution.
