Friday, April 22, 2022 –Former President Mwai Kibaki has been confirmed dead.
The third president of the Republic of Kenya breathed his last on Friday April 22 morning before President Uhuru Kenyatta made the announcement on Friday afternoon at around 12:30 PM.
Uhuru mentioned his predecessor as a leader who was selfless and who was committed in uplifting the lives of Kenyans.
Kibaki served with Raila Amollo Odinga who was his prime mister in the grand coalition government that was formed at the height of 2007/8 post-election violence.
The former President served as the third president of the Republic of Kenya between 2002 and 2013 before paving way for Jubilee regime.
President Kenyatta has declared a period of mourning, including the flying of flags at half-mast until a State funeral is held in Othaya.
