Four Officers and an Mpesa Agent arrested for Swindling sh 1,030

Thursday, August 19, 2021 -Ruiru Police officers are currently in custody after allegedly robbing an innocent resident his sh 1,030.

In a lengthy post shared online, a member of the public detailed how he lost his money through rogue police on patrol based in Ruiru who, on arrest, forced him to reveal his M-Pesa pin.

This started when he was arrested and handcuffed by the police for violating curfew rules. The arrest took place on August 12, 2021 at 10PM.

From his social media post, he recounted how one of the four police officers allegedly grabbed his mobile phone, scrolled to the M-Pesa menu and immediately transferred sh 1,030 to an M-Pesa line registered under the name Martin Ndichu Kamau.

“Four police officers and an Mpesa agent are in custody following an incident that was shared on social media by a member of the public, after a bad encounter with police officers on patrol,” DCi confirmed.

He would then be released without any trial or booking before he reported the matter at the Kiambu County Criminal Investigations Department which led an investigation that finally unraveled what exactly transpired.

The investigators established that the sh 1,030 was passed from Ndichu to one Thomas Agumba Okuku who happens to be among the officers based at Ruiru Police Station.  Further investigations revealed that similar transactions had been carried out between Okuku and the M-Pesa agent who is also being treated as an accomplice.

The five suspects were however arrested last night for robbery with violence. They will remain in custody for five more days.
