Friday, August 9, 2024 –Orange Democratic Movement ODM Central Committee meeting held today, Friday August 9, has recommended new party leadership following the exit of some members who joined the government.

This is in light of positions left vacant after the resignation of members who were recently appointed to various cabinet roles

Kakula Mamai who is MP Kajiado has been proposed for secretary for special programs and social welfare, Rahab Robi of Migori was given the position of secretary of Publicity and Information, Rosa Buyu secretary for Political Affairs and Hon. Ruth Odinga mandated with the office of organizing secretary.

Also in the new lineup proposal is John Ariko for Vice chairman, Otiende Amolo vice chairman Gladys Wanga National chairman and Senator Godfrey Osotsi, HE Simba Arati and Abdulswamad Sherriff for deputy party leaders should their names go through.

In a statement shared with the media, the party indicated that there were many more members who had tendered their willingness to also serve but asked for tolerance since the positions were limited.

“The vacancies attracted immense interest from across our membership. We wish to thank all those who offered themselves to serve acknowledging that many of them have already been of great service to this party. Whilst not all us can lead at the same time, we wish to encourage those who may not get the nod that there will always be space for all of you to contribute,” stated the party statement signed by Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

Raila seized the opportunity to share a light moment with the new team which he congratulated for getting to the shortlist.
