Sunday, October 6, 20214 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachgua is accused of amassing a staggering wealth of 5.2 billion in a short period of 24 months.

In the impeachment papers seen by Kenyawide.com today Sunday October 6, the embattled DP is accused of trading in mega corruption projects through shoddy tenders and influence.

Top lawyer who has tendered his affidavit in support of the impeachment, today, stated that though he may have so many things against DP Gachagua, the most outstanding in the impeachment charges was his insatiable appetite for ill wealth.

Acquisition of Ill-Wealth

The DP is accused of making ill wealth which he cannot account for in a two-year period they have been in office.

Lawyer Ahamednasir Abdullahi, while reacting to the charges said, he wants the DP send home for that crime but also challanged the rest of the Cabinet members to be ready to explain their overnight wealth.

“Of the 11 grounds, the most potent and powerful for me is that he is accused of making sh 5.2 billion in just 24 months. Corruption on that scale for a poor third world country like Kenya is a war crime and unforgivable,” stated Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdulahi.

But in his constitutional fight back, the second in command has assembled a strong team of lawyers led by Senior Counsel Paul Muite and Fred Ngatia.

The duo is among the top brains locally and have appeared in high profile past national petitions that some pitted the opposition against the sitting government.

In a detailed news story by NTV on Saturday October 5, it has since been established that other top legal brains in the Gachagua camp include: Victor Swanya, Tom Macharia, Amos Kasilu and Elisha Ngoya.

In their counter attack, they argue that the Public participation period was inadequate with two days only; making it impossible for the country to sufficiently address their opinions on the impeachment and whether they supported it or not.

DP Gachagua Defence

The lawyers are currently busy holed up in DP’s Karen residence where they are determined to deconstruct the 11 ‘heavy’ charges against their client.

Gachagua, sadly, will also face three key witnesses from the government side who have tendered their pages of affidavits against him.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, KEMSA official Andrew Mulwa and secretary to Cabinet Mercy Wanjau have already announced their readiness to take-on Gachagua and to demonstrate to the country that the DP lacks office integrity to continue holding that position.
