Saturday, June 22, 2024 –Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has described Rigathi Gachagua as a career-failed government official.
In a statement posted on his X account on Friday June 22, Kuria opined that Gachagua failed to attract any single promotion during his 20 years working as a District Officer (DO) because he was incompetent.
That those who schooled and graduated alongside the DP made significant strides in their respective careers even as Gachagua remained at the same place for two decades.
To emphasize his point, CS Kuria questioned Gachagua’s decision to quit public service and work as a personal assistant for former President Uhuru Kenyatta. This, he said, was because of reasons such as his personality and inability.
“He graduated from the University of Nairobi in 1988. He became a District Officer for two decades without a single promotion. His classmates and juniors have grown from strength to strength in position, stature and exposure.
“From being a DO he graduated into a PA. Epic failure,” CS Kuria added.
Early this week, Kuria developed ten questions against Gachagua seeking both answers and clarifications on the past conduct of the DP.
While in Baringo County, National Assembly Leader of Majority Kimani Ichung’wah hinted that the fallout between Gachagua and his boss, William Ruto, started the day Gachagua wanted unbudgeted funding for his office.
He alleged that Ruto was being blackmailed after rejecting the budget proposal from Gachagua’s office.
“They also wanted to blackmail Ruto to give them personal money for the refurbishment of their offices and sh 40 million carpets. Because Ruto has refused your request, you go and collect four MPs to fight Ruto,” Kuria stated.
On the other hand, DP Gachagua lamented that his allies were being intimidated and that some leaders intending to work with him were being subdued by individuals with strong ties with the Statehouse.
“Leaders who are with me in this journey are being intimidated and threatened that if you call for unity shall not get development or if you are seen with the DP things can be very bad but those are normal things in politics,” Mr Gachagua stated in a church service in Ruiru Thika.
Coming weeks after he hinted that close friends of Ruto were hellbent on derailing his plans and relationship with the president.
