Wednesday, July 13, 2022 –Kenya Kwanza running mate Rigathi Gachagua has reacted to an incident which saw him flee their Meru rally, prematurely.
Speaking shortly after being airlifted to his safety on Wednesday July 13 afternoon, the William Ruto’s running mate took issue with a section of government officials and politicians from rival camp whom he said were using poor youth in a wrong way to cause mayhem ahead of the elections.
He observed that this plot to derail Kenya Kwanza’s quest for Statehouse will not work since millions of Mt Kenya residents had already made up their mind on who they will be electing to charge of the country from next month when elections take place.
“Any person using our unemployed youths to cause violence is primitive and will be ashamed by the resounding Kenya Kwanza victory in the next 24 days. Thank you Mutuati, Igembe North for making it clear that your support for the Hustler Nation can’t be changed,” he wrote.
From a few video clips which Homenews.co.ke had a look at following the ugly incident, a group of rowdy youth are seen to have been angered by Gachagua’s presence and started to heckle him nonstop before chaos erupted leaving several injuries behind.
The Mathira MP had earlier presided over peaceful rallies but his stopover at Mutuati was marred by violence with police officers quickly swinging into action to contain the situation which was getting out of hand.
On his part, Meru Senator Mithika Linturi blamed their rivals for the skirmishes.
