Gachagua Demands Gratitude From Ruto

Tuesday, September 3, 2024 -Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has told his boss President William Ruto that Mt. Kenya people owes him nothing.

Speaking in a church function in Central Kenya a day ago, the second in command noted that some politicians were issuing misleading statements on the existing relationship between Mt. Kenya Region residents and the president.

The DP slammed leaders who, in Nyanza, claimed that Kikuyus owe Ruto gratitude for the many government positions he offered them after the last election.

Gachagua pointed out that, actually, it is the other way around (the head of State owes Mt. Kenya electorates gratitude).

“When I was in Nyanza I heard some people talk so recklessly that we owe Ruto gratitude. I want to say it here that we owe President William Ruto nothing. He owes us development,” claimed Gachagua.

He argued that Ruto should embark on completing any stalled project in the region as a sign of respect to the people of Central Region.

Among the projects he want Ruto to complete include roads, coffee challenges, security, unemployment, safety etc.

Gachagua said further that only Ruto from outside the Mt. Kenya Region has benefited a lot from Kikuyus when other leaders who came first are yet to be supported.

He pointed out that the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, despite having immensely supported first President Jomo Kenyatta, Kikuyu community did not reciprocate. Raila Odinga also supported Mwai Kibaki but was never paid back same to Kalonzo Musyoka who supported Kibaki’s regime in 2007 contested election.

He, therefore, remarked that Mt. Kenya people deserve gratitude for voting Ruto to a man in office and that all the Cabinet positions given to the Region are deserved because the Region invested heavily in the current government.

The DP was addressing this just one day after an intensive tour by government to Nyanza Region.

President William Ruto and his team pitched a weeklong camp in Nyanza where he laughed as many projects as possible.

Ruto, in the presence of his deputy Gachagua, also seized the opportunity to promise a lot more to the people of Nyanza saying, in 2027, he wants them to fully cross over to the government and leave the opposition to others also.

Droves of people left their daily duties to attend his daily rallies and meetings.
