Monday, July 26, 2021 -Mathira lawmaker Rigathi Gachagua finally managed to secure a sh 12 million bail in his graft case.
Chief Justice Lawrence Mugambi in the same ruling also gave him an alternative of sh 25 million bond and ordered him to deposit his passport with the courts. Gachagaua was also warned from interfering with witnesses.
The accused was is represented by a team of 10 lawyers who are fighting to save him from six graft counts including conspiracy to commit an offense of corruption, Property fraud and money laundering activities.
The DP’s staunch ally was arrested last Friday July 23 and spent his weekend in police cells. He was picked by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI very early in the morning.
“I want to tell the people of Mathira to ignore the rumours, their MP has not stolen anything, these are just baseless accusation to intimidate me for my political standing,” the MP said on Friday “They just wanted to arrest me on Friday and detain me for the weekend to punish me, and it is okay”.
Rigathi is being represented by lawyers Kioko Kilukumi, Alice Wahome, Gladys Boss Sholei and Kipchumba Murkomen. Others are Sylvanus Osoro, Irungu Kangata, Gibson Kimani, Wyclife Nyabuto, Amos Kisiwi and Paul Gacheru.
