Wednesday, May 29, 2024 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachgua has refuted claims that he is moving to a different party after reportedly falling out with his boss, William Ruto.
In an official four paragraph letter addressed to a local publication, the second in command stated that the publication carried out a misleading headline and story about his political challenges.
He addressed the article saying it was not only misleading but also meant to tarnish his name and create confusion among UDA Party supporters.
The said article had the headline, “Gachagua Seeks new Party amid Fallout With Ruto”. And another heading in its subsidiary digital platform titled, “Ruto Gachagua Tiff”.
These stories saw the office of the second in command claim that they were laced with hate and malice since they are one-sided stories.
“It is deliberately intended to disparage and attack the integrity of His Excellency Rigathi Gachagua, the deputy president of the Republic of Kenya,” the letter also read in part.
DP Gachagua noted that the articles went against the tenets of professional reporting that demand three things – objectivity, fairness and balance – in any news article before going on air.
The DP, therefore, demanded an immediate apology from the publication. He also demanded a retraction of the misleading article.
Gachagua is battling fallout with his boss William Ruto whom he claimed his associates were working day and night to interfere with the Mt. Kenya politics.
