Sunday, April 28, 2024 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed his dissatisfaction in the manner in which Nairobi County City is being managed both economically and politically.
Speaking in Lang’ata Nairobi on Saturday April 27 in a meeting attended by Nairobi businessmen, stakeholders and leaders, the DP said it has come a time for the Nairobi City to be protected from sinking further and that, him together with his boss William Ruto, will henceforth have a keen interest in management of the capital city.
“We have started to want to know what is happening in Nairobi. I have keen interest to know the political landscape of Nairobi because it is the capital city of this country.
“We are not only voters here but also stakeholders and, therefore, we have a reason to worry when things are not working well,” he announced.
In response, however, Governor Johnson Sakaja confessed not having any political or leadership differences with the DP.
He also added that he is not intending to rival Gachagua for the DP position same to Gachagua not interested in vying for Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
“I do not have any differences with Gachagua. Even though he found us in politics, he has been able to rise through the ranks to become whom he is today and, therefore, he deserves respect from some of us. Remember, I do not want to become the DP and neither does he want to run for Nairobi County gubernatorial position in 2027,” Sakaja stated.
The two United Democratic Alliance UDA Party politicians have had a frosty relationship since the time they won elections in 2022.
Some sources report that the two hardly see eye to eye with the DP having hidden plans to replace Sakaja with his favorite candidate in 2027. The jury still out.
