Monday, June 3, 2024 –Reports of Deputy President Rigathi Gachgua not using an official military chopper to public functions have emerged, again.

In a detailed story carried out by the Standard on Monday June 3 morning, the paper reported that Gachagua was again denied a military chopper to attend the 61th Madaraka Day event held in Bungoma County.

This reports further indicated that this state of affairs has increased speculations of his fallout with boss, William Ruto.

According to the Standard Digital, Gachagua’s allies have since claimed that this is the third time the second in command has been denied military and police aircraft.

According to the sources, the DP was informed that he could not use the military chopper ‘due to bad weather’.

The back and forth between Gachagua and President William Ruto has continued to play out in public. During the Madaraka celebrations held in Bungoma, Ruto pointed out that MPs require freedom to move around the country for proper oversight. This being a respond to his deputy who had, earlier, warned the lawmakers from moving outside their constituencies.

On Monday June 2, late evening, however, the DP was among the cabinet delegation that saw off the head of State who has since flown to South Korea for an official duty.

“Last evening, I saw off our President, H. E. Dr William Ruto, as he departed for Seoul, the Republic of Korea,” stated Gachagua.

The DP and his boss William Ruto were elected on the rise of Hustlers narrative in the August 2022 general election.

Their popularity across the country emanated from the fact that they had fallen out with President Uhuru Kenyatta whom they described as a ‘political traitor’ after he decided to throw his weight behind the opposition.

Uhuru’s efforts to see Raila Odinga succeed him failed to yield much as Ruto and Gachagua beat him(Raila) with a paltry 200,000 votes.

Raila had teamed up with Narc-kenya’s Martha Karua as his preferred running mate under the umbrella of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition that also comprised Kalonzo’s Wiper Party.
