Sunday, September 29, 2024 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that there is a descrete scheme to create nonexistent friction between him and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki so that to intensify political cracks in their Region.
Speaking in Meru County on Saturday September 29, the embattled DP accused a section of powerful people in their government of attempting to bribe local leaders so that to escalate his differences with Prof. Kindiki.
He noted that he will not fall for the trap and that the overall intention of those scheming for the divisions is to divide and rule.
“There are some youthful leaders who have been given handouts to split us into Mount Kenya East and Mount Kenya West; but if we divide, that will be the end.
“We are not fools. Now they want to bring our son Professor Kindiki so we can rival him. We saw this happen during Moi’s time,” remarked Gachagua.
He listed some passed political figures from the region who, during that time, never fought each other despite coming from the same region.
Among the names he mentioned existed before and never fought each other are James Njiru, Kuria Kanyingi, GG Kariuki, Kariuki Chotara, and the late Joseph Kamotho,
Gachagua, who will be facing an impeachment in less than 48 hours, seems determined to fight back for his life in Kenya Kwanza government. He has been out and about staging rallies around Mt. Kenya Region where he comes from.
During the rallies, the DP accuses President William Ruto of remaining silent in the wake of his woes.
“My boss William Ruto. Allow us to complete these three years together. We have some young leaders who are misleading you about me but I urge you to take charge because the direction you are about to take will break our party,” he remarked while in Embu yesterday.
So far, over 300 signatures have since been collected from Members of Parliament from across the political divide in readiness for the Tuesday showdown.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa is touted as the person who has been picked to table the motion that seeks to send the DP home after serving only two years in office.
But Gachagua has been vocal denouncing the reports saying Ruto was elected by Mt. Kenya residents because he(Gachagua) was on the ballot with him as a pair.
