Friday, October 6, 2023 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has addressed his relationship with Public Service Cabinet Secretary CS Moses Kuria as well as Musalia Mudavadi.
In a one-hour long interview on Inooro Tv today Friday October 6, the DP said Kuria’s reshuffle from Trade docket to Public Service was a normal reassignment of work to enhance service delivery as per the president’s wishes.

The second in command, therefore, said he doesn’t have any bad blood with the CS and that he will always protect him anytime he (Kuria) need him.
“I don’t know because he was here recently, because we had called priests to bless the Mt. Kenya community and we had no problem then. He is our son. So, I don’t know what could be wrong now,” Gachagua noted.
The DP also said Kuria’s new office was equally important to the country and he should be ready serve in it with the same zeal he had in the Trade and Industrialisation Ministry.
“In fact, his docket is important because it touches on government delivery unit so we know he will perform. When he didn’t win the 2022 elections, Ruto and I gave him a job in our Cabinet. We have no problem with him, as he was just reassigned to another ministry. If there’s an issue, I will call him and tell him that the job he has been given is of importance. All these children are ours,” added Gachagua.
Addressing his power play with Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi and whether the president had clipped his powers in the recent changes, Gachagua has said that he still enjoys all the deputy president’s privileges as enshrined in the Constitution.
He argued that the Presidency, as per the current Constitution, joins them in the hip and cannot be separated from Ruto’s wins or losses.
“President and I are joined at the hip. We talk on a daily basis. My relationship with the President is top-notch. He has mandated me with a great responsibility because he understands my output. We shall continue working for Kenyans until the end of our term,” Gachagua said.
He even disclosed that he consults with Mudavadi, who has since been added Ministry of Foreign Affairs, every time on matters national same to the daily calls and meetings they hold with their boss, William Ruto.
“There is no need to read too much into the President’s reshuffle. I kindly ask those who were given new mandates to work with diligence and commitment and ensure that their work is visible to the public,” said Gachagua.

The second in command further said that his relationship with his boss has not changed as he continues to be entrusted with significant roles in their Kenya Kwanza government.
He urged Kenyans for more patience as their government continues to take shape.
