Gideon Moi will be Ruto’s breakfast bread in 2022

Saturday, January 23, 2021 -Baringo Senator Gideon Moi will be having a very difficult time to become anything in this country unless just handpicked.

Just like ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi is a good boy in Kenya’s politics, which is not quiet a good qualification in Kenya’s politics, so is Gideon Moi.

Politics in Africa cannot be molded on ‘Good Boys’ grounds. I pity Gideon and Mudavadi because if they are going to face off with the likes of DP Ruto and seasoned enigma Raila Odinga, then I am sorry power was not meant for them.

How the two behave leaves me wondering and confused because seemingly even if by chance they won any election, they can still be easily removed from Statehouse when the protests – God forbid – organized against them by Ruto and Raila picks high tempo. Simply put, they are not yet presidential material because they cannot stand the heat we usually see during elections.

Back to Rift Valley politics and the name William Ruto is Law. I am yet to be convinced how, with the type of ‘Good Boy’ politics I see the son of Moi demonstrate, can dislodge Ruto from the kingship of their region. Almost a mirage!

Gideon has wealth and not just his but family wealth at his disposal which he is not maximally utilizing to rival William Ruto’s force in the area. Ruto on the other hand, has his self-made wealth which he knows how to use added to his gift of gap and the answer is obvious. In fact, if it were not the many scandals Ruto is accused of, his journey to Statehouse would be a guarantee in 2022.

A few month ago Cherengany Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny openly indicated his dissatisfaction with the manner in which Gideon was running his political affairs. He threatened to distant himself from such politics. We can’t tell the reason but we can guess it right. Further, there are these guys like William Kamket and ever stubborn Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter both who had shown interest in supporting Gideon’s 2022 ambitions. Where are they today? Everyone is asking! They ostensibly could be having a second thought about this anyway.

Last but not least is the former Bomet County Governor Isaac Ruto who has been in bad books with William Ruto whom he claimed engineered his removal from the plum Bomet seat. He then switched camp to Gideon. Unbelievably, just the other day he came back kneeling before the DP begging to be forgiven. Why do you think this is so for a person as strong and confident as Isaac? The answer is simple, he knows William Ruto is a tsunami in Rift Valley. He sweeps to the sea and for him to become the governor of Bomet again, he must tore the line.

“I will support you (Ruto) for the top seat, as I also go for the governor position,” said Isaac of the new relationship with Ruto.

He even went as far as terming it unfair political wars which the Deep State was directing at the DP every day. What a sudden change? And this is politics!

It therefore goes without saying that in the next race, let Gideon never dare DP Ruto because even that Senatorial position he is holding can easily be taken away from him if William Ruto decided so. He may like it or not, but he is now hanging on a loose sand.
