Government Could Arrest Raila – Lumumba

Thursday, March 16, 2023 –Lawyer PLO Lumumba has discussed the possibility of government arresting Raila Odinga on March 20 when the opposition will be pouring on the streets to pile pressure on the State.

Appearing on Citizen Tv’s JKL night show with Jeff Koinange, the seasoned Pan-Africanist mentioned that Ruto’s administration could be preparing Raila for an arrest which is now imminent saying if this country was Uganda, today, Mr. Odinga could be in jail serving a term.

“Thus far, whether one likes President Ruto or not, this government has been very restrained; in other parts of the world, Raila Odinga would have been arrested – PLO Lumumba, Advocate & Scholar,” Lumumba argued.

He also seized the opportunity to ask the Azimio la Umoja supporters and politicians not to mislead Raila to march to the Statehouse because this could turn tragic.

Lawyer Lumumba wondered whether Odinga was honest with demonstrations or not, because, there is no possibility that a government can bring down prices of commodities within the first three or four months.

“If he became president on the 20th, would the prices of commodities suddenly go down? Would the appointments suddenly change? Would Kenya become El Dorado, the land of gold? Will he have a magic wand that he will wave, and lo and behold Kenya’s GDP increases? No,” he posed.

The former Anti-graft chairperson was speaking this just hours after both President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua warned the opposition chief against destruction of personal property during their protests.

Ruto reminded Mr. Odinga that it is his democratic right to go on the streets but, at the same time, Kenyans doing business on the market have a right to be at work and have to be protected.

On his part, DP Gachagua threatened that their government is highly prepared to deal with Mr. Odinga once and for all.

“Raila and his father have troubled this country for 60 years. The time to deal with him is now,” he charged.

Azimio la Umoja supporters led by Raila, Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka will be pouring on the streets from March 20.
