Wednesday, May 17, 2023 –Government of Canada has cautioned Kenyans against claims that there exists special programs for Kenyan nationals who would like to move to Canada.
The Canadian government refuted claims from the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs which had alerted jobless Kenyans that the two nations had reached a lucrative deal to see hundreds of Kenyans migrate to Canada for greener pastures.
In a statement, moments after Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua made the good news to Kenyans, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC ), insisted that the referenced programs do not exist in their plans with Kenya.
“Disinformation is circulating which suggests that special programs are welcoming Kenyan immigrants. This is false, and the immigration programs referenced do not exist. For accurate information on how to immigrate, visit http://Canada.ca/immigration,” IRCC said in a tweet.
This is after Dr. Mutua who has been on a tour in Canada made the announcement that he had managed to secure various job opportunities for Kenyans after holding a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, in Montreal, Ms Jolie Melanie.
“I was pleased to note that there are job opportunities within various economic sectors across Canada and Kenyans can travel to Canada as students, tourists and as workers,” Dr. Mutua said.
He went on to support his claims by saying that, his early survey had established that Canada had more job vacancies for those seeking to migrate from Kenya.
“Canada has more employment opportunities than available people to work and we agreed that Kenya can help fill that gap.
“The process for those who wish to go to Canada is simple but requires one to be diligent,” he said.
The former governor of Machakos County also seized the opportunity to warn Kenyans against rogue agencies purporting to help Kenyans migrate to Canada.
He said such businessmen only exist to fleece helpless jobless individuals of their hard-earned money.
While in Ottawa Canada, Mutua launched the Mobile Consular Services MCS; an initiative aimed to bring Consular Services closer to the Kenyan Diaspora wherever they are.
The CS also held a meeting with the Kenya High Commission staff in Ottawa and thanked them for the great work they continue to undertake in the promotion and projection of Kenya’s interests in Canada.
