Monday, April 24, 2023 –Kenya Kwanza government has received backlash after Pastor Paul Mackenzie’s death incidents in Kilifi County.
In 2022, a section of Kenyans mostly allied to the ruling UDA Party rebuked Mama Ida Odinga over her proposal to regulate churches to weed out ‘fake preachers’. However, following the deaths of pastor Paul Mackenzie’s church followers, Ida’s proposal seem now to have been the best.
Most Kenyans now feel Mrs Odinga was right on this matter when she called upon government to regulate religious centers.
“Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has written a long post calling for tighter regulation of churches. Kenyans are hoping that he ran those views with the First Lady before he made them public, because the same sentiments got Ida Odinga a ringing lecture from the owners of God,” Gabriel Oguda commented.
Chief Administration CAS Trade, David Osiany, also weighed in on the matter saying both Ida and the current Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa were right on calling for religious regulation to weed out unscrupulous players.
“I congratulate Mama Ida Odinga and CS Aisha Jumwa for having raised the need to temper religious overzealousness at different times.
“They did so when no one could dare speak against religious hypnosis. They bore the brunt differently but they have been vindicated today,” David Osiany observed.
On his part, one Ida Mandela noted that time is a grinder that grinds firmly until the truth plays out.
They were reacting moments after President William Ruto took over Pastor Mackenzie’s case with instructions to get the Coastal pastor processed in court for his criminal conduct.
Reacting to the news about more than 39 death cases at Shakahola Forest, President Ruto today Monday urged law enforcers to seal off the forest saying the area is now a ‘crime scene’.
“Enough security officers have been deployed, and the entire 800-acre forest sealed off and declared a crime scene.
The head of State who was addressing the Prison Officers Pass out parade on Monday April 24 said Mackenzie’s actions are no different from terrorism.
