Economist David Ndii

“It comes with the territory. One of the choices one makes when getting involved in power politics is to be prepared to have blood on your hands. If you don’t have the stomach, be content with the moral superiority of pounding keyboards from a safe distance,” he remarked.

The Presidential Council of Economic Advisors Chairman was responding to one Gathara who had raised concerns with his(Ndii) support for police brutality to sections of demonstrators in Nyanza Region.

“I wonder what folks like @DavidNdii make of the brutality being meted out to fellow Kenyans by the regime they are a part of. Is it just the cost of doing business? At what point do they call BS on the transformation rhetoric?” Gathara posed.

The debate was raging amid hash tag #LuoMassaccre which was trending at number three on Twitter today Saturday as videos of police attacking Nyanza residents from their houses emerged.

“The Kenya National Commission for Human Rights is the most impotent of all constitutional commissions. It remains voiceless in the midst of widespread violation of rights, which is its mandate, instead of intervening. What’s copious documentation for?” journalist David Makali reacted to the shocking videos.

Rapper Maji Maji who happens to have been born and bred in the Lakeside would share a not-so-good video clip showing how the police were meting brutality on Nyalenda area residents.

“This is Nyalenda. The children and mother talking in the video are Asthmatic. A choke of carelessly used teargas at no threat as an Asthmatic is life threatening being you can’t leave the house for urgent medical attention.

“Some humane intelligent approach by police is necessary,” Maji Maji captioned the video as Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai joined the debate.

President William Ruto and PS Interior Raymond Omollo
