Governor Mutahi Kahiga Clash With Raila in Nyeri Meeting

Saturday, November 27, 2021 –Activities were almost brought to a standstill when Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga took a direct swipe at ODM Party boss Raila Odinga for telling stories instead of tabling his manifesto for the Mountain people.

In a Friday November 26 event while hosting former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Governor Kahiga went wild against by warning Odinga to stop long historical narrations and label his content

During his time to address the Azimio la Umoja meeting held at Kabiruni Grounds, Kahiga shouted on top of his voice and warned that Odinga may not see votes from the Mountain if he will not assure them of sharing government.

He added that promising a Deputy President slot to the Central Kenya people was not enough same to giving them security because it is their Constitutional right.

“It is not time to talk about history, it is time to talk about where we are going.

“We want to discuss matters that make the citizens happy. Not Security and not running mate position. That’s not enough. We want a stake in your government beause whe have over 500,000 votes with us,” he stated.

But in a sharp rejoinder, Kahiga was told off by Jubilee Party Nominated MP Maina Kamanda who reminded him the importnace of history in any nation.

“Wewe Governor Kahiga ni Rafiki yangu; mambo ya historia ni lazima tusome. Kama hujui historia basi utakuwa mjinga miaka yote. Ni lazima historia isomwe,” Kamanda stated.

Women leaders present some of the gifts to Raila Odinga and wife Ida Odinga.

Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege also added weight saying we risk losing culture if history on how this nation was built will be thrown into the dustbin.

Odinga on his part, told Kahiga that without history, him and President Uhuru Kenyatta could not have come together through the Handshake.
