Tuesday, July 19, 2022 –Governor Mwangi wa Iria has officially joined Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition citing transparency and agenda.
While making this statement on Tuesday July 19 afternoon, Wa Iria told the media that he had extensively held a discussion with leader Raila Odinga and came to the agreement with his manifesto for the nation.
He also added that Odinga had quickly agreed to continue with his One Home One Cow programme which is ongoing in his Murang’a County.
“I told Raila that if we combined his sh 6,000 pledge and my cow programme then we will take Kenyan families above the poverty line. I told him that those have to be in our joint manifesto and we did a deal. He stated that will happen.
“Through that joined manifesto, Usawa Kwa Wote will support the candidature of Raila. My supporters will now rally behind Raila Odinga,” he announced.
The outgoing governor also argued that only Azimio had space for him since other outfits have, all along, been hell-bent plotting for his downfall.
“It has reached a level where people think that they are the Kings of Murang’a. I am the de facto leader of Muranga and I have been their leader for 10 years dealing with their problems every day and that is why they have been voting for me,” he charged.
He also asked Mr. Odinga to accord him a cabinet slot when he wins. This he said will help him have an opportunity to push development for his region from within.
Wa Iria’s presidential dream recently hit a dead end when Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC denied him a chance over threshold reasons. He would then be disqualified.
