Saturday, September 25, 2021 -Deputy President William Ruto was in Migori County accompanied by county boss Okoth Obado in what many perceive as a charm offensive move around Odinga’s strongholds.
During the Saturday September 25 tour, the DP used the opportunity to splash colossal amounts of money to supporters who thronged both streets and venue to receive him.
Notable events in the tour was when the second in Command exchanged a whopping sh 20,000 with a mere umbrella which a local woman was carrying. Residents were delighted and chanted UDA all through as the DP took away the umbrella.
In the videos which we have seen circulate, the DP can be seen asking the woman to pass the umbrella to him before he signaled his aides to part with sh 20,000 which he gifted the local in public.
In another publicity move, Ruto was seen having a brief private talk with a local on crutches whom he also handed sh 20,000 as crowds chanted ‘Ruto’s’ name all through.
After gifting the man on crutches, Ruto allowed his friends to lift him away as he(DP) continued with addressing.

Before these two humane incidences, Ruto had donated a whopping sh 2 million to local bodaboda SACCO and small scale traders in Awendo Kisumu where he had attended a church service.
“The money I have given you is little. Next year, we won’t give you money in cash. We’ll set aside Ksh120 million in every constituency to empower small-scale traders such as boda boda operators and mama mbogas,” Dr Ruto stated.
He seized the opportunity to urge the residents to start joining his UDA Party saying he is the best man to take over the instruments of power from Mr. Kenyatta.
Apart from Governor Okoth Obado, Ruto was accompanied by MPs Mathia Robi, Marwa Kitayama, Silvanus Osoro, Ndindi Nyoro, former Awendo lawmaker Jared Opiyo and ex-South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara.
