Monday, February 22, 2021 -Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has asked his area Member of County Assemblies to pass the Building Bridges Initiative BBI.
Kivutha who has been coalescing around the Deputy President William Ruto with whom they have been opposing the BBI, on Monday February 22 made a sudden sharp u-turn saying his voters and MCAs want it passed due to afew reasons and therefore opposing it would be detrimental to his legacy as their leader.
He made the verdict when he met with area MCAs from both Makueni and Machakos Counties where they took time to discuss the document. Also present was his Machakos counterpart Dr. Alfred Mutua.
“We agreed that MCAs should respect the will of the people who endorsed the BBI amendment proposal from the recent PP fora,” the governor wrote on his twitter account.
Kivutha said he would like to respect what the majority were saying about the Draft instead of pulling towards a different direction which would definitely look awkward.
“For revenue reasons, I wish to respect the will of the people and ask MCAs to do the same,” he added.
During his previous anti-BBI rallies, he appeared to claim that the process which was used to reach at the final document was shrouded in mystery and therefore need to be rejected.
