This culture of doing things has left many vulnerable families in big losses to scammers who have nose for their vulnerability.

Just weeks ago, when we found out about Worldcoin giving away free token worth thousands of free monies, we queued at KICC to have our eyeballs scanned. So long as something is available for free, there is always a catch. Kenyans!

Unfortunately, scammers know this. They tell you that there is “Zero risk”. They assure you, that the deal is legit, that your 100 shillings will miraculously turn into 100,000, without going into specifics as to how that is going to be possible.

Many have been duped, not because they are stupid, but because of their greed. You already have 5k, why would you then want to send it to Kimani to turn it into 500k?? Does it make any sense?

Then when they block you, because then they got exactly what they wanted from you, only then do you cry or start call Customer Care Service to try and reverse the transaction. The money is gone, period. They held no knife to your throat, is that right?

When the deal is too good, don’t even think. Just forget about it altogether. Other than scammers getting better by day, some of us are just plain stupid and dumb. We believe preposterous ideas, like a gift sent to you from an unknown person in the UK, sending school fees to a random number or even giving away crucial details, like ID numbers, Pins and Passwords. Sounds crazy.

Nonetheless, that said, there is another way of staying safe from scams. Cover yourself, maintain a safe distance with scammers, conmen, swindlers and thieves.
