Saturday, August 27, 2022Azimio la Umoja top officials tried hard to manipulate a section of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC to change the presidential results in favour of Raila Odinga. Commissioner Abdi Guliye has claimed.

In a lengthy affidavit filed today Saturday August 27 in response to Raila Odinga’s court petition, Guliye delivered a wild response in which he accused some Azimio la Umoja leaders and the National Security Advisory Council NSAC for attempting to overturn the will of the people through the IEBC

IEBC commissioners meet candidates from areas where election was postponed at Bomas of Kenya on August.

Guliye, one of the commissioners on the side of Chebukati, listed Executive Director Raphael Tuju and former Busia Senator Amos Wako as the people who came to offer gifts to Chebukati so that to announce Raila the winner of the August 9 contest.

They wanted the IEBC to make sure the numbers streaming into the system are moderated so that to hand Mr. Odinga and Karua a resounding victory.

Guliye further documented that together with another person Kennedy Kihara (Principal Administrative Secretary at the Office of the President), they visited Chebukati at dawn (around 3AM) the same day the presidential results had to be made public.

In their plea with Chebukati, they argued that the results to be announced were supposed to consider peace and unity of the nation.

The IEBC commissioner further detailed that Amos Wako would then claim that he had moderated elections in the past and that William Ruto’s win was not what the country deserved at the moment.

“Wako indicated that they had come to ask the Commission not to operate ‘in a vacuum’, and that it must consider the link between the election results to be declared and the stability of the country, which he described as the bigger picture,” read the affidavit in part.

Interestingly, the four dissenting commissioners led by Juliana Cherera are said to have all agreed with the visitors’ request; while Chebukati, Guliye and Boya Mulu differed away.

These report is coming hot on the heels of a series of shocking affidavits filed today at the Supreme Court ready to be dissected by top lawyers from Monday when the siting officially kicks off.
