Sunday, March 5, 2023 –Two children have lost their lives to gun-wielding bandits in Samburu North, Samburu County on Saturday March 4.
The dangerous gunmen staged the attack in the afternoon amid ongoing sting police and army operations in the area.
A report reaching Homenews.co.ke confirmed that the incident occurred barely 200 metres from a Kenya Defence Forces KDF camp.
The daring bandits drove the animals towards Maruaking where it is reported that is their hiding home any time after committing attacks.
“We cannot live this way. Two innocent children have been killed even when the government is leading a security operation. What else can we say?” Joseph Ekutan, a resident in Marti, told Nation.
This latest attack has posed a great threat to school children who are yet to resume classes due to increase in banditry in the area.
Locals who spoke to several media houses noted that bandits pinpointed Malaso and Kur Kur valleys as their safe bases of their operation.
Additionally, in a separate incident, two herdsmen were also gunned down on Saturday afternoon at around 2:00PM in Lolmolok area.
Giving his operation orders recently, President William Ruto affirmed his commitment to wipe away the menace through the Ministries of Interior and Defence.
He directed Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to relocate to the affected regions until the time the attacks will calm down.
He added that his government will not relent in the war against criminal elements causing havoc to innocent citizens.
