Friday, May 26, 2023 – William Maxwell or Fetty Wap, an American rapper, was jailed six years after pleading guilty in court.
In the Wednesday May 24 court sentence, the Trap Queen rapper accepted before the court that he had distributed 25kilogrammes of cocaine as part of a crew which was involved, in also, selling heroin and other outlawed hard drugs.
They group carried out these criminal activities across Long Island and New Jersey between June 2019 and June 2020.
“I only ever wanted to do right by my family and loved ones,” Maxwell said, clad in a beige jumpsuit told the court.
The singer apologiesed saying the Coronavirus pandemic period had forced him to diversify sources of income as his music had stalled for lack of shows and market during that dry period.
His legal team led by lawyer Elizabeth Macedonio urged Seybert to judge his client not by his songs – that mostly glorified thuggery, violence and drug abuse.
Sadly, the prosecution side explained how the rapper was a fast-morphing criminal who had earlier involved in threatening another man with a gun while still on bail.
The Prosecution side led by Christopher Caffarone proposed atleast nine years even as the accused side sought the minimum sentence of about five years before the court settled on six years jail term.
