Politicians and leaders should be people who are open to public scrutiny and they should not be short-tempered or easily provoked.

In Kenya, we have had two leaders who have stood the test of time in this area. They do not get provoked by social media attacks to an extend of blocking a follower over anything; and these two are Raila Odinga and President William Ruto. Though Ruto has, in some occasions, blocked a few people here and there.

Raila Odinga rarely blocks anyone even when they are attacking his family or his personal life. For instance, Aoko Otieno has spoken and wrote very bad things on the person and family of Mr. Odinga. She has insulted the family left, right and center but Raila still follows her upto now.

In fact, she recently shared her X screen grab showing the opposition leader still being her great follower.

Another example is Miguna Miguna who has been attacking and hurling unprintable at Raila Odinga. Todate, Raila has never blocked him. He has also never reacted on his verbiage. Raila only talks about Miguna when he is pushed by the media to answer a question on his past relationship with Miguna.

So, therefore, Odinga is s true statesman who has no personal grudge to an extend some social media users among them, Miguna Miguna and Aoko have taken advantage of this humanity to gain a following through insulting his personal life.

I have also rarely seen Ruto block anyone though I am told there have been a few cases he has been forced to block. However, suffice say, he has tried to also stand the test.

Remember how Uhuru Kenyatta, his former boss, had to permanently quit Twitter and Facebook at once citing public disrespect and pressure.

It goes without saying that, leaders among them governors and MPs should be able not take social media posits personal. Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma is notorious with blocking users over small differences. The MP is not as strong as some of you may think. This blocking of followers on X should be left to women. Interestingly women leaders hardly block anyone. Never seen one.

Lawyer Miguna Miguna who insults people left, right and center, is another case who blocks anyone who attempts to criticize him. He is also not very strong on social media. He exhibits characters of a weak man.
