Saturday, August 19, 2023 –Kakamega Homeboyz Fc today faced off with Al Hilal Bangazi from Libya in a match that ended in barren draw.
The much-awaited game held on Saturday August 19 went into the last quarter, still in a goalless affair at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
The host team made their second change of the match when Oscar Paul had to come in for Moses Shumah.
At 70th minute, Homeboyz FC technical bench made another substitution with Erick Ambunya going out for Chris Masinza.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwanba was present. Chairman for Homeboyz Fc, Cleophas ‘Toto’ Shimanyula, was also present to cheer the home team.
Kakamega Homeboyz held their final training session on Friday ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round match against guests Al Hilal Benghazi on Saturday.
Homeboyz, winners of the 2022/23 FKF Cup, were making their debut at an international football competition dubbed CAF Confederations Cup.
The club’s head Coach Patrick Odhiambo had expressed confidence in the youth team’s high morale and their eagerness to showcase their ability and talent on a higher platform.
Erick Shikalo, the goal keeper, had also indicated that, this to him, was like any other game since he had been there before.
His sentiments corroborated by team Captain Moses Mudavadi who, during the Saturday game, was substituted towards the end of the match for Alex Imbusia.
