Saturday, November 13, 2021 –Nick Mwendwa’e woes continued to pile this week after more damning fraud allegations were linked to his office.

In the findings released by the inspection committee recently formed by the Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, Mwendwa was discovered to have pilfered huge chunks of cash into his personal accounts.

DCI George Kinoti explains a fraud.

The preliminary report unearthed that over sh 550 million allocated to the football federation FKF from Government as grants could not be properly accounted for.

From the same grant amount, it was also discovered that a fictitious withdrawal of sh 29 million within one month was  done and which Mwendwa and his team can only struggle to account for.

The eleven-man-committee led by Michael Kimoko further revealed that another sh 8 million was wired to Mwendwa’s private accounts between March and May 2021.

As if that was not enough, the Nick Mwendwa-led office failed to file convincing documents to support their sh 513 million between December 2017 and October 30, 2021 and 218.8 million allocated to Harambee Stars for its facilitation during the 2019 African Cup of Nations AFCON games.

In the damning report that could nail Mwendwa in court is the expenditure of sh 27.9 million which was meant to support Harambee Starlets CECAFA 2018 Championships and which they cannot account for.

Mwendwa also lacked authentic papers to support the sh 40 million which was channeled to the FKF accounts to cater for CECAFA tournament four years ago.

Other missing files include the sh 25.7 million which was to facilitate Harambee Stars AFCON qualifier match against Ghana, sh 22.8 million that was to be channeled to Harambee Stars to facilitate their match against Swaziland and Equatorial Guinea.

But responding to the accusations, Defiant Mwandwa rubbished the entire findings saying his office was willing to be investigated without intimidation and that he won’t allow anyone to interfere with their normal operations.

He vehemently rejected any proposal to have a caretaker committee in place as investigations continues.

On Friday November 12, detectives acting on a tip off, pounced on him at a Wastelands Hotel and drove him straight to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road where investigations have intensified.
