Friday, February 2, 2024 –Kenyans have continued reacting on the killer gas inferno that occurred in Embakasi at night claiming several lives.
Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, taking to his official communication platforms on Friday February 2, mourned those who perished in the midnight fire and asked for prayers from well-wishers.
“We are asking for prayers in Embakasi after the fire that has consumed several lives, and over 300 residents rushed to hospitals after nursing severe injuries,” Babu owino stated.
Kileleshewa Member of County Assembly Robert Alai, adding weight to the calls, challenged the head of State to abandon anything he was doing in Western Region and focus his energy on the Embakasi matter.
Alai directly laid the blame on the National Environment agency NEMA which he said has a great responsibility of what has happened in Embakasi.
“NEMA directors, including the Director General, should be arrested and charged with criminal neglect over the Embakasi Fire. Nairobi City County planning officers led by the CECM and Chief Officer should be arrested and charged too. Greed is killing our people. Why must families be burnt in their sleep and life goes on as usual? Hello Ruto, come back from Western Kenya and personally attend to this,” he challenged the head of State.
Other Kenyans condoled with those who were affected and injured saying it is time well-wishers rush to save lives through blood donations.
“Pole sana to the families that have been affected in Mradi area in Embakasi. Quick recovery to all those who are admitted in hospitals. I call upon fellow Kenyans to pray for these families. I appeal to Kenyans to visit Mama Lucy and KNH to donate blood for the fire survivors,” Alnur Mohamed tweeted.
Nation newspapers, Gabriel Oguda said, in Kenya it is normal when such a thing happens just like accidents happen everyday killing lives but no serious solution is undertaken.
“The same way the Transport Minister has made it normal for 84 road deaths to occur in one week is the same way the Environment Minister will not release any statement and will assume nothing has happened because the president will do her nothing for sleeping on the job,” Mr. Oguda wrote as sen by this writer.
The Gas explosion happened at around 11:30 PM at Mradi Area in Embakasi after the lorry loaded with gas caught fire and burst out.
The aftermath of the explosion, near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport JKIA that has so far left three people dead, over 300 hospitalised, has shocked the entire country.
